V9 - Adding and editing a work order

Creating a work order

  1. To add a work order, use any of the following methods:
  2. Refer to Work order field descriptions to complete the transaction. Important fields for work orders include Location, Items to make, Quantity, and Due date. The Produced field is a system-generated quantity to indicate the production that has already been completed for that line item. Save the work order when finished.

edit_noteNOTE: Work orders are usually meant for managing manufacturing schedules. Due dates on the work order cannot be sorted, so it is important to enter the lines in chronological order, according to due date. Use the Multitool's Move feature to change the line order if needed.
  3. If any items are assemblies, check the Expanded BOM report to see whether that assembly contains any sub-assemblies. If the report shows you do not have enough components to build the sub-assemblies, you will need to order and receive the components before you can build the sub-assemblies, which in turn must be built before the master assembly can be produced. Refer to Using work orders to organize multilevel assembly production for more information.

When you are ready to process a work order, you can use the Quick view action.

If a work order is completely manufactured, it will automatically close out. If a work is only partially manufactured and is not going to be completed, you must manually close the work order.

Editing an existing work order

An existing work order can be opened for viewing or editing by going to the Work orders list and the Ref # for the work order record. Be sure to save your changes.
