The Bin contents report (Operations > Reports > Inventory > Bin contents) shows you what items are stored in bins at a specific bin-tracked location, along with the item quantities.
While the basics for running any report in SOS Inventory are covered in Reporting introduction and Running a report, the filters, options, and columns specific to the Bin contents report are explained below.
As of date.
Bin-tracked location. Select a location from the dropdown list. This setting is required. This list will show only your bin-tracked locations.
Bin number contains. Type all or part of a bin number to display the items it contains and their quantities.
Hide empty bins. If you have bins with no stock, this option prevents them from being displayed in the report. This option is checked by default.
Show "as of" date. If checked, shows the at the top of the report, based on your As of date filter. The date appears when Display is selected under Retrieve your report. If the report is retrieved by Email or Download, the As of date will appear only if you print your spreadsheet. If a header is also entered for the report, the date will be displayed below the header.
Header. Enter header text for the report, if desired. The header appears when Display is selected under Retrieve your report. If the report is retrieved by Email or Download, the header will appear only if you print your spreadsheet.
Footer. Enter footer text for the report, if desired. The footer appears when Display is selected under Retrieve your report. If the report is retrieved by Email or Download, the footer will appear only if you print your spreadsheet and will display above the system-generated text, Report Generated [date] [timestamp].
The default columns for the Bin contents report are Name and Description.
Fourteen additional SOS column options are available, as well as any custom fields you have defined for items.
The sample Bin contents report below shows the bins, the items, and quantities at the bin-tracked location, Gulf Coast Branch. In addition to the default columns (Name and Description), SKU was selected. The columns for Location, Bin, and Quantity are built into the report.
This report is not only good for viewing items that may be in a single bin, but also for showing if the item is contained in multiple bins at that location. This graphic below is in the default display. However, you can click the name header to sort by item. You will find that the Austrian Mantel Clock is located in both bin 4001 and bin 2001.
You can also see in this report when a bin contains multiple items. Click the bin header to sort by bin. You will find in bin 6001 a Computer Keyboard and a Hammer.

If you want to see items and their quantities across all or multiple bin-tracked locations, we recommend that you use the Items in bins report (Reports > Inventory > Items in bins). That report organizes data by item, rather than by location.
