V9 - Chrome Web Store browser extensions

 

The SOS Inventory Chrome Web Store page offers browser extensions that enhance our app's usability, visibility, and efficiency. Designed to work with version 9 of SOS Inventory, these extensions add functionality to your browser experience.  

 

The extensions are supported in both Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. No special user permissions are required to use these extensions with SOS Inventory. These extensions were developed by an independent agency and are not directly connected to the SOS Inventory application.

SOS Inventory Navigator open_in_new

This versatile extension adds a powerful set of navigation tools under the Operations menu that allow you to get to any page faster without digging through menus. The Navigator is designed for anyone who uses SOS Inventory regularly and wants to navigate faster — operations managers, warehouse staff, accountants, and administrators who jump between reports, configuration pages, and transactions throughout the day.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Use the help icon to conduct a Help Center search from within SOS Inventory. Search results appear in a pop-up window. Clicking any search result opens it in a new tab.
  2. The search field instantly searches across every page in SOS Inventory V9—transactions, reports, configuration settings, exports, and more. Type a keyword and jump straight to the page you need. Over 200 pages indexed, including all reports, configuration sub-pages, and export pages.
  3. The Quick Links area allows you to:
    • • Add your current SOS Inventory page as a quick link. Select the Add this page button to add it to your links.
    • • Manually enter a URL as a quick link. The URL can be from any website. Use the + button to bookmark the page.
    • • Rename a quick link. Right-click the link, then enter its new name.
    • • Reorder a quick link. Left-click, hold, and drag a link to move it.
    • • Export your quick links. Right-click the Quick Links bookmark icon (bookmark) to export the links to a CSV file.

The Navigator automatically hides on configuration pages, where the Operations menu isn’t shown. Opening Quick Links collapses any expanded Operations menu sections and expands the Quick Links. Expanding an Operations menu section collapses the Quick Links area.

 
 
Transaction Status Indicators open_in_new

This extension displays status indicators for sales orders, sales receipts, invoices, purchase orders, RMAs, rentals, and work orders in SOS Inventory. Of these transaction types, real-time status indicators are given for sales orders, purchase orders, invoices, and work orders.

This extension allows you to identify at a glance an order's status with color-coded bars: gray (not started), yellow (partially complete), and green (complete).

When hovering over a status bar of a transaction (such as the Ship bar on a sales order), the hover text will state something like, Shipped 4 of 5 items. On invoice records, the status displays the Ship status, and the hover text gives the shipment transaction number.

This extension gives SOS Inventory a grey contrast, which may improve readability for some users.

Transaction Edit Page Customizer open_in_new

Customize the look and functionality of your transaction Edit pages with this extension. 

This extension allows you to:

  • • Rename column headings and data field labels. Right-click in the blank space to the right of the heading or field name, then select Rename Column. A pop-up window will appear, prompting you to enter a new name that will be applied globally across all transactions.
  • • Hide or unhide any line-item table column by toggling its arrow. This helps minimize horizontal scrolling.
  • • Use up/down arrows as a secondary method for changing quantities within transactions. To enable this feature, go to the Configuration mode (Tools & settings > Configuration), then check the Enable Quantity Arrows box above the Company section in the left menu.

Line Tax Updater (Non-US SOS Inventory Accounts Only) open_in_new

Designed exclusively for non-US SOS Inventory accounts, this extension updates the tax code of all item lines with the tax code assigned to the customer.

 
The Line Tax Updater extension allows non-US SOS accounts to update the tax for all line items with a single click.
 
Expanded BOM Production Assistant open_in_new

This extension analyzes an Expanded BOM Report to calculate how many sub-assemblies need producing and how many components to order.

Here's how it works:

  1. Run an Expanded BOM Report in SOS Inventory (Reports > Production > Expanded BOM Report). Make sure you enable the Expand sub-assemblies option.
  2. After displaying the report, click the floating Analyze BOM button.
  3. Instantly see a breakdown of:
    • • Assemblies to build. Every sub-assembly that needs production is listed.
    • • Components to purchase. Displays the quantity of each component that you need to purchase.
    • • Financial impact. See a total cost estimate for the entire production run.

Whether you're managing a simple build or a 10-level deep complex assembly, this tool ensures you never miss a component again.

Duplicate SKU and Item Name Highlighter open_in_new

This extension is used on the Items export page. The Duplicate SKU and Item Name Highlighter is useful if you use Shopify or BigCommerce with SOS Inventory, which requires that each item have a unique name and a unique SKU. Select Display as the method for retrieving your report. Duplicates are highlighted in the displayed export and listed in the Duplicate Summary pop-up window. Use the Copy button in the pop-up to copy the information to your clipboard, if desired. This extension also works for SOS Inventory V8.
