V9 - Global search

The Task bar's Global search feature enables searching all lists in the Operations and Sync menus for a specific item, customer, vendor, or transaction record.

Selecting the Global search icon (search) on the Task bar opens the Global search page:

The Global search page allows you to search for customers, vendors, items, and transactions.

Smart Search keywords for global searches

The list of Smart Search keywords is available within the application by clicking Search tips and keywords. This allows you to narrow a global search. The keywords available are also listed below. For keywords that are abbreviated, the meaning of the abbreviations are listed in parentheses.

tips_and_updatesEXAMPLE: Entering 5177 (without quotes) will find anything with 5177 in the name or record ID. But if po 5177 is entered (without quotes), SOS Inventory would look for purchase order 5177 only. In this case, the system would go directly to the appropriate list page.

Recent transactions

The Global search page also lists recent transactions. The transactions listed are user-specific, not company-wide. A transaction may be opened for editing or viewing by selecting its reference number link. Clicking the format_list_bulleted icon goes to the transaction record on its list, allowing you to perform actions and to view data in columns.
