V9 - Settings for lot inventory

With SOS Inventory's lot inventory settings, you have the option to:

  • Automate lot numbers
  • Select the lot numbers of lot-tracked items on pick tickets

These settings are explained in the sections below.

Automating lot numbers

Automated lot numbers are most commonly used in manufacturing to assign lot numbers to output items on build and process transactions. SOS Inventory's General inventory settings are where you can enable automatic lot (as well as serial) numbering and set your numbering preferences.

To set up automated numbering:

  1. Go to the General inventory settings page (Tools & settings > ConfigurationInventory > General).
  2. Move the Serial/lot numbering slider to Automatic to open the options available for automatic numbers.
    1. Use the slider to set the numbering as Sequential or Random.
    2. Enter your desired number of characters in the Serial/lot number length field. Choose a number between 8 and 32 digits.
    3. Optional: Add a Prefix to automated numbers and enter the Next number you want to use.
  3. Save the page when finished.

Designating lots on pick tickets

If you use pick tickets, you can enable Serials/lots on pick tickets (Tools & settings > Configuration > FulfillmentPick tickets) to specify the lot numbers of the lot-tracked items picked.
