V9 - Using the View/profit loss action for jobs

The View profit/loss action on the Jobs list (Operations > Production > Jobs) allows you to obtain profit/loss data for a specific job.

 

This action: 

 

• Allows you to see profit/loss for the job, as well as profit/loss by work center (stage).
• Includes data about each transaction associated with a job or a work center (stage).
• Data columns for transactions include:
  • Transaction Date.
  • Event. The transaction type.
  • Ref #. The transaction reference number, with a clickable link that opens the transaction.
  • Item. The name of the item.
  • Txn qty. The quantity of an item on a transaction.
  • Cost. If applicable, the cost value of the item as it pertains to the job.
  • Income. If applicable, the income value of the item as it pertains to the job.
  • Net total. The running total of cost and income entries. This column is ordered by the date of the transaction, and the final line will show your actual profit or loss for this job. 
  • Entity. The customer or vendor associated with the transaction, if applicable.
  • From location. If the transaction is a transfer, the From location is listed here.
  • To location. The location of any transaction that affects inventory quantities.

 

When the View profit/loss action is selected for sample job SO384, the Profit/loss page displayed includes data for all transactions associated with the job:
 

 

 

However, when Job Manufacturing is selected from the Work center dropdown for job SO384, it pulls only the transaction data associated with that work center:

 

 

The Profit/loss by job report (Operations > Reports > Sales > Profit/loss by job) is another job costing tool available in SOS Inventory.
