V9 - Using price tiers on sales forms
Video transcript: Using price tiers on sales forms
In this video, we'll learn to apply price tiers to our sales transactions.
When you're working with price tiers, one thing I recommend is that you turn on the setting, Enable line-item discounts. This setting makes it easier to see exactly which pricing is being applied to each item on your transaction.
To enable it, we'll go to Configuration mode by coming up and selecting the gear, then select Configuration. Next, you'll need to go into your Sales settings, to the General tab. Move down about three-quarters of the way, and here you will find Enable line-item discounts on sales forms. Check the box to turn it on, and then make sure you save your settings.
This will add two important columns to your transaction forms. First, the List price so you can see the base price of the item. The second column is the Discount %, which shows how the price tier is affecting the item. Once you have those saved now, all we have to do is exit the configuration.
Now let's go look at actually applying the price tiers on your forms.
So I'll create a new sales order by coming to my +Add transaction, opening a sales order, then I'll need to add a customer. I'm going to use Al Latimer here. And if you pay note on his Price tier area, you notice he does not have a price tier assigned. I still can select price tiers to use, even if there's not a tier assigned to my customer.
When you're using price tiers, the steps are very simple. You first will select the tier you want to use, so maybe I want to use my Wholesale price tier on this transaction. Then you add the items over here that you would like the price here applied to. So I want to add a Hammer here, and let's say then that he wants five hammers. Well, if you'll notice right now, on my List price, this is the base price according to the item definition. But right now I have nothing on the discount percentage. As soon as I tab off my quantity, the calculation is completed by the system.
I can add another item at this point. Maybe I want to add my Mantel clock. And I can come over and add a Mantel clock, and notice, it adds the same price tier.
Now, what if you want to use a second price tier though? As an example, I have a Flight jacket that I do quantity buys on, and what do I
do if I want to switch to that price tier? Very easy. To switch to another price tier, again, you first come up and select the price tier before you add the item. So I have my Quantity buy here. Now I'm going to add in my Flight jacket. I'm going to put in my quantity of 4, and you'll notice it applies that discount.
The major thing to realize when you're working with price tiers, you select the price tier, add the items. Then as you come off quantity, it calculates for you. You never want to click the Apply button here unless you want that price tier to apply to the entire list of items. If you're wanting to use multiple price tiers on a sales transaction, never click on Apply.
But that's how easy it is to use your price tiers, and we'll see you on the next video.
