V9 - Where to buy report
Use case
The Where to buy report (Operations > Reports > Purchasing > Where to buy) compiles data from the Vendor-Item Catalog so that you can see which of your vendors sell an item, each vendor’s price, and the quantity you need to order.
While the basics for running any report in SOS Inventory are covered in Reporting introduction and Running a report, the filters, options, and columns specific to the Where to buy report are explained below.
Filters
Categories. Select All or individual categories. All is the default. Multiple individual categories can be selected. To use this filter, categories must be defined in SOS Inventory.
Item name contains. Type all or part of an item name to display matching items.
Vendor. Choose the desired vendor from the dropdown.
Options
Header. Enter header text for the report, if desired. The header appears when Display is selected under Retrieve your report. If the report is retrieved by Email or Download, the header will appear only if you print your spreadsheet.
Footer. Enter footer text for the report, if desired. The footer appears when Display is selected under Retrieve your report. If the report is retrieved by Email or Download, the footer will appear only if you print your spreadsheet and will show above the system-generated text, Report Generated [date] [timestamp].
Columns
The default columns for the Where to buy report are Item, Vendor, Price, Description, and Needed. Fourteen additional SOS column options are available, as well as any custom fields you have defined for items and vendors.
Sample Where to buy report
The sample Where to Buy report below has Allen wrench as the filter in the Item name contains field. In addition to the default columns, Available, Reorder Point, and Max Stock were selected. The Add to reorder list column is built into the report. If the Add link in the Add to reorder list column is selected, the system automatically adds the item to the Reorder list if the item is at or below its reorder point.
In this example, the Where to buy report lists eleven different vendors linked to Allen wrench in the Vendor-Item Catalog.
