V9 - Creating a new lot-tracked item

If you need to enable lot tracking for an existing item that is not currently lot tracked, the steps involved are different from those listed here. Refer to Converting a non-lot-tracked item into a lot-tracked item for more information.

To create a new lot-tracked item, do the following:

1. Create a new item. On the Task bar, go to the Quick add menu (add_circle icon) and select Item (Quick add > Inventory > Item).
    
2. On the item Edit page:
   1. Complete the item data fields. Refer to Item field descriptions as needed.
   2. Be sure to enable the Track lot numbers setting.
   3. Save.
       

Once the lot-tracked item has been created, you may load stock into inventory using an item receipt or an adjustment. If you use an adjustment to load quantities of a new lot, however, you must first create the lot from the Lots list. Refer to Adding lot items into inventory for details.
