V9 - Methods for adding items to the Reorder list

SOS Inventory’s Reorder list (Operations > Purchasing > Reorder list) serves as a type of shopping list—a reminder of the items that you need to buy—but with the added capability of generating purchase orders from that list.

The Reorder list serves as a shopping list for items you need to replenish.

The application offers five different ways to add items to the Reorder list. Regardless of the method you use, please note that any data you enter in a Reorder list entry—as well as any revision you make to a pre-populated data field—does not change the item definition or the Vendor-Item Catalog entry.

Adding items directly to the Reorder list

Use the +Add button on the Reorder list page to open a Reorder pop-up window. Data fields include the Item name, Location needing the item, the Quantity to reorder, the Vendor, Vendor part number, and the Unit price. This method requires entering the data manually, although the Unit price will populate automatically if it is specified in the item definition. Be sure to save the entry when complete.

You can add an item to the Reorder list by using the +Add button on the list.

Using the Add to reorder list action on the Items list

Go to Operations > Inventory > Items. Choose the Add to reorder list action for the item you wish to add. SOS will add to the Reorder list an entry for the item, pulling from the item definition the data for the Item, Vendor, Vendor part number, and Unit price. The Location is set to your company's default location. The Quantity is the suggested quantity as calculated by the reorder calculation. Edit the data field information if needed, then save.

Using the Reorder report to add items to the Reorder list

The Reorder report offers two different ways to add items to the Reorder list. Refer to Using the Reorder report to add items to the Reorder list for more information.

Using the Where to buy report to add items to the Reorder list

The Where to buy report (Operations > Reports > Purchasing > Where to buy) compiles information from the Vendor-Item Catalog and presents it in a chart that allows you to compare vendor prices for an item and check your current inventory stock level. The Where to buy report is available on Plus and Pro plans.
