V9 - Bulk editing price tiers

If you are on the Plus or Pro plans and intend to use the Price tiers feature, you can export, edit, and import the price tiers using this method.

warningIMPORTANT: If a line item was uploaded previously, the new import will overwrite the existing data in the system. If you limit your import to include only those price tiers that have been changed or are new, the other price tiers in the system will be unaffected.
  1. If you need to add new price tiers, go to Tools & settings > Configuration > ListsPrice tiers. If you do not need to add new price tiers, go to Step 2.

    1. For each new price tier, select +Add.

      1. Enter a name for the tier.

      2. Save the tier.

  2. Go to Tools & settings > Export data.

    1. Under the Sales section, select Price tiers

    2. Under the Columns section, select Add all columns required for import. Ignore the Filters and Options sections.

    3. Under Retrieve your report, select Email or Download as the method of delivery for the exported data. In either case, a pop-up window will open.
      1. Email. Sends the exported file as an attachment to the email address(es) you specify. The report file type options are Excel (.xlsx)Legacy Excel (.xls), and Comma-separated values (.csv).  Multiple email addresses must be separated by a comma.
      2. Download. Choose the desired report file type—Excel (.xlsx)Legacy Excel (.xls), or Comma-separated values (.csv).

  3. Make a backup copy of the exported data file before editing.

  4. If opening the spreadsheet in Excel and the exported format was also in Excel, you must unprotect the sheet (located on the Review ribbon).

  5. Edit the spreadsheet as needed. Refer to Price tiers to see the different formats (standard or quantity buy) you can use. Each price tier row has columns for the Tier name, an Item the tier affects, the Price of that item for that tier, and the Quantity for which the price applies. (Ignore the SosAccount column.) A sample spreadsheet is shown below.

  6. Import your data.
    1. Go to Tools & settings > Import data.
    2. Under the Importing dropdown, choose Price tiers.
    3. Drag and drop your Excel or CSV document in the File field, or use the File selector button to choose the file you wish to import.
    4. Select Preview. SOS will display the first 10 lines of data, so that you can ensure the correct file of data is being uploaded.
    5. If the Preview looks correct, select Import.

  7. SOS Inventory will send a notification indicating whether the import was successful.

  8. Perform a bulk edit of your customers to add price tiers to customer definitions—or if only a few customers are changing, edit them directly in the Customers list (Operations > Sales > Customers).

After the tiers have been entered into SOS Inventory and added to the customer definitions, you will see a customer's price tier above the line-item area of a sales transaction.
