V9 - Managing and removing expired lots
SOS Inventory offers a number of ways to help you manage and remove expired lots from your inventory.
Lot expiration management
To help manage expirations of lots:
- Create alerts for lot-tracked items so that you receive notifications of expirations. The alert is triggered by the calculation of the number of days you specify before or after the expiration date. If desired, convert the alert notification to a task for yourself or another user.
- Make sure that when you receive or manufacture a lot-tracked item, its expiration date is specified on the transaction (item receipt, build, or process) before saving. If you happen to forget, locate the lot on the Lots list (Operations > Inventory > Lots), open the Lot edit page, and manually complete the Expiration date field.
- If you need to create a lot so that you can add its quantities on an adjustment, be sure to complete the Expiration date field on the Lot edit page.
Removing an expired lot from inventory
Follow these steps to remove a lot from inventory:
- Run a Lot stock status report (Operations > Reports > Inventory > Lot stock status) to locate your expired lot(s) and the quantity at each location. (Lots may be dispersed across multiple locations.)
- Make sure that you set your filters for All Locations and the Status to Expired.
- Use the report as a reference for Step 2.
- Create an adjustment for each location carrying inventory of the expired lot(s), referring to the report data on the quantity at each location.
