V9 - Build transaction field descriptions
Custom fields may appear on build transactions, depending on how each custom field has been defined. If present, a section containing custom fields is below the standard SOS data fields. The fields will be of the input format and value that you have defined.
Add lines (). Click the icon to add additional lines to the line item table. The number of lines added is established by the number specified by your company in the Default lines setting (Tools & settings > Configuration > Company > General).
Applied to WO. On the Pro plan, the work order number (WO #) and line item number (Line #) with which the output item is associated.
Auto serial/lot numbers. Check this box to generate serial/lot numbers automatically for an output item according to your General inventory settings (Tools & settings > Configuration > Inventory > General).
Build reference #. Reference number identifying this build transaction. The system will number the transaction automatically if the Build numbering settings are specified in the Builds settings (Tools & settings > Configuration > Production > Builds).
Class. The class for this line item. This column displays only if the Class tracking setting (Tools & settings > Configuration > Connections > QuickBooks) is enabled.
Clear lines. Aicon in the column header of a table or line-item area clears the content of all line-items in a table, but not the lines themselves. By contrast, aicon in a single line-item row removes both a line and its contents.
Comment. Internal comment about this build transaction. The comment is not displayed on the transaction when printed or emailed unless this field is added to the build's form template.
Date/time. Transaction date and timestamp. Use the Now button to update it to the current date/time.
Department. Department for this transaction.
Description. This block is multifunctional and can contain any of the following:
- Sales description for the item. The sales description, as entered in the item definition, will be used by default.
- Lot. Lot number, if the item is lot-tracked.
- For an output item, a new lot must be created. See Adding lot items into inventory.
- For an input item, an existing lot must be selected from the Lot dropdown. For more information, see Using existing lots on transactions.
- Expiration. For an output item, a date field used to specify the expiration date for a new lot.
- S/N. Serial number(s), if the item is serial-tracked. For more information, refer to Using serial numbers on build and process transactions.
Fill. Available for Class column of the input section. Use the Fill button to apply to all line items the same class specified in Line 1.
From job. Job from which an input item is referenced. This field transfers the value from the job into this transaction. This box is available only if Job tracking is enabled in the Jobs settings (Tools & settings > Configuration > Production > Jobs).
Inputs. The table of line items to be used to manufacture goods.
Item. An input or output item on a build. Enter/select the name of an existing item from the dropdown list. New items can also be created.
Line. The line-item number of an item on the build transaction. The order of an item can be changed using the Multitool.
Line #. On the Pro plan, in the Applied to WO column, the line-item number on a work order to which an output on a build is applied.
Location. The location where the items are being manufactured.
Multitool. A multifunctional icon in the far-left column of a line item. The Multitool is a convenient feature found on transaction line items and some other tables used in SOS Inventory. The Insert tool (), located in the top left corner of the Multitool, inserts a blank line above the current line item. The Move tool moves and reorders line items by clicking, holding, and dragging theicon. The Copy tool () duplicates the data in one line item to the line immediately below it.
Notes. An internal note from the bill of materials (BOM) that pertains to an input item.
On hand. The in-stock quantity of an item.
On SO. The quantity of an output item needed to fulfill sales order(s).
Output. The table with the line item being produced.
Qty to build. The quantity of the assembly being manufactured.
Signature. An authorized user's name, signed with a stylus or finger in SOS Inventory's iOS app. However, the signature on a saved build transaction can be viewed on any device. If the transaction does not have a signature, the transaction will say No signature. If a signature has been obtained for a transaction, the Builds list's Signature column will say Yes for that transaction record.
To job. The job to which an output item should be applied.
Total in build. The total quantity required of an input item to manufacture the specified quantity of an output item.
UOM. If Units of measure are enabled in a Plus or Pro plan account, you will see the list of possible measures. On build transactions, the base unit of measure should always be used.
Update inputs. When this button is selected, component items listed in an assembly’s bill of materials will be retrieved and copied into the Inputs table. If any changes are made to the output item after the input items have been imported, you must select Update inputs again to refresh the Inputs table information. This may lead to re-entering changes made prior to this action.
Used per. The quantity required of an input (component) item to build one unit of the output (assembly) item, as specified in the bill of materials (BOM).
WO #. On the Pro plan, the work order transaction reference number in the Applied to WO column, to which an output item is applied.
Work center. Pro plan subscribers who have defined work centers will see the Work center dropdown list on build transactions. Select Finished goods on the transaction if the output is a completed item. Other dropdown options indicate a stage for a build that is a work in progress.
